The gender and foetal wellbeing scan are designed to offer you crucial information about your baby's health, providing confidence and support throughout your pregnancy journey. This scan is available from 16 weeks onwards and conducted by our specialized sonographer, who will perform the following assessments:

  1. Visualise baby’s heartbeat and movement.

  2. Fetal position.

  3. Amniotic Fluid Assessment: Evaluating the amniotic fluid that surrounds your baby.

  4. Placental Location Assessment: Determining the location of the placenta.

  5. Gender Determination: If requested, revealing the gender of your baby.

  6. Basic Anatomy Check: It's important to note that this check is not your anomaly scan, which is typically offered between 18 to 24 weeks. The anomaly scan provides a more comprehensive examination of your baby's anatomy.

By undergoing the gender and foetal wellbeing scan, you gain essential insights into your baby's health, supporting your journey towards a healthy and informed pregnancy.

What is cervical length scan

A cervical length scan, also known as a cervical ultrasound scan, is a transvaginal ultrasound that measures the length of the cervix during pregnancy. It can be performed at any stage of pregnancy but is most useful at 17 and 21 weeks.

A cervical length scan can help determine the risk of premature birth and other issues, such as: Loss of amniotic fluid, Previous cervical surgeries, Multiple pregnancies, and Uterine anomalies.

A cervical length scan may be recommended for women who are at high risk for preterm birth, such as those with: a previous preterm birth, abnormalities of the uterus, and previous cervical surgery.

A cervical length scan is painless and uses a transvaginal ultrasound transducer. During the scan, the cervix is checked for dilation and the location of the cervical suture. A medical report and advice from a care team are also provided.
